My Emergency Doctor recognised for innovation in 2022 AFR BOSS Most Innovative Companies List
For the third year in a row, My Emergency Doctor has been named as one of Australia and New Zealand’s Most Innovative Health Companies. The prestigious annual list, published by The Australian Financial Review Boss, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading behavioural science consultancy, Inventium, in conjunction with a panel of industry expert judges.
My Emergency Doctor was awarded #9 on the Health Industry list most innovative company for 2022. Selected from over 700 nominated organisations across Australia and New Zealand, the assessment is based on Inventium's Innovation Framework. The framework comprises of nine elements that has been scientifically shown to drive innovation and at how valuable the problem is that the innovation is solving, the quality and uniqueness of the solution, and the level of impact that the innovation has had.
My Emergency Doctor was are honoured to be recognised for their innovative Virtual Board Round Solution which assist hospitals requiring access to senior emergency physicians in the overnight period to support patient flow and importantly reduce clinical and operational risk.
The Virtual Board Rounds innovation provides virtual senior clinical support and supervision, empowering on-site junior doctors to deliver expert, timely care while building their skills. Risk is reduced as clinical and operational outcomes are improved through better management of patient flow and minimising unnecessary admissions and diagnostic investigations.
My Emergency Doctor have adapted the board round practice to be accessible virtually overnight for junior clinicians by adapting existing telehealth technology to support a clinician-to-clinician consultation in an emergency department setting.
Junior clinicians have provided feedback of feeling supported through the regular call-ins on the board rounds, fostering an active approach in managing their ongoing wellbeing.
