Eastern Melbourne Primary Health Network has partnered with My Emergency Doctor to bring residents in their geographical catchment area free consultations in the after-hours period. This initiative is funded by the Australian Government under the PHN Program. Availability of free consultations are limited each day. 

Absolutely not. We recognise that your GP is your primary healthcare provider. We simply want to be there at times when your GP can’t be, as our service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Please also note that this is not a replacement for the emergency 000 service. If you suffer a time-critical emergency such as chest pain, difficulty breathing or uncontrolled bleeding, call 000 without delay.

Emergency medicine is a recognised speciality within medicine where the focus is on immediate diagnosis, resuscitation and treatment of patients with an acute medical condition. Emergency Specialist Doctors (also called Fellows of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine, or FACEMs) have completed specialist training and passed their Fellowship or ‘Consultant’ Exam in Emergency Medicine. They are trained to deal with the full range of emergencies suffered by all patients regardless of age or gender.

After Hours is defined as Monday - Saturday: 7pm – 8am, Sunday and Public Holidays: 24hrs.

• Any computer with internet access, and any smart device with the capacity to run the latest operating system applicable to the device, whether it be Apple, Android or Windows operations system
• An internet connection and a web browser (i.e: Chrome)
• Adequate background lighting (so our doctors can see you)
• Your postcode (individual/private callers) to insert in the web browser/online registration form

• A functioning landline telephone
• If you are using a mobile phone, ensure you have strong service reception
• Our phone number is toll-free, however mobile carrier charges may apply if you call via a mobile phone 
• Your eligible postcode to claim your free consultation

All your personal information will be kept secure on Australian-based servers. Our doctors may review this information with other healthcare providers such as your GP in accordance with our Privacy Policy. From time to time a second emergency specialist doctor may access your patient records for quality assurance purposes only. Please also see our Terms and Conditions.

To obtain your free consultation simply connect through our easy-to-use web solution, on any smart device. Go to myemergencydr.com and click on CALL DOCTOR and register your details, entering your postcode when it prompts you to the web-form. Alternatively dial 1800 000 633 to speak to a doctor.

This service is available at no cost in the after hours period for residents of Eastern and North Eastern Melbourne until the end of June 2023. Availability of free consultations are limited each day.

My Emergency Doctor is an emergency telehealth service. We do not provide in-person consultations. We also do not prescribe S8 medications. We also don’t provide routine care as we are there for urgent and acute cases.
