Dr Ascencio-Lane is an Emergency physician based in Tasmania. Having worked in Ireland and New Zealand, he is now settled in Hobart, Tasmania. He instructs on the Advanced Paediatric Life Support course and has helped to establish an emergency training program for rural doctors in Tasmania (EMET). He is currently the Tasmanian representative on the Council of Advocacy, Practice and Partnerships (CAPP) for ACEM and is the college’s representative on the reference group for the formation of clinical guidelines in conjunction with the Heart Foundation / Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand for Atrial Fibrillation.
As well as having an interest in and having a diploma in Sports Medicine, he is currently undertaking training to be a specialist in Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine.
